Jack’s my inspiration!

Monday 9:00am

Jack continues to do amazingly well and surprise us every day with his progress.  He was home again for the weekend and thoroughly enjoyed his time with Christopher.  They even went to the park yesterday and enjoyed the sun!  We found out last week that Jack only has 3 more weeks to go at Bloorview and then he will be home for good – yeah!!!  He still needs a lot of therapy and once he returns home he will receive therapy through Erin Oaks and we will make a transition plan for him to gradually go back to school.

And the best part is still no seizures!!!!!  We’re back at SickKids this week and next for post-surgery follow-ups and I can’t wait for his doctors to see him run down the hallway!  It actually brings tears to my eyes as I type this just thinking of the progress Jack has made since we last left SickKids with him in a wheelchair and otherwise bed-ridden.

On a personal note, I must share with you why Jack continues to be my inspiration!  I ran the Chilly Half Marathon yesterday and every time throughout those 21km that I felt like stopping, I repeated my running mantra over and over in my mind:  “If Jack can run…so can I!”  The feeling of crossing the finish line seemed to bring about such a sense of accomplishment for me that we have been able to survive these past couple of months.  I feel on top of the world and am just so overjoyed to have two healthy children for today, who both can run…just like mom!  🙂

Have a great day and enjoy the sun!

Jodi

He’s the God on the mountain, but you also know He’s the God in your valleys……….
Way to go Jack! Keep on surprising everyone.
Walk and run and get them to chase you Jack!
I think that deserves his favorite ice cream or whatever treat he really wants.
Who knows, someday you’ll run past your mom in the half marathon!!
(We’re just trying to keep up with you Jack) love, henry & mary

Way to go Jodi! So good to know that Jack is making progress and that you are feeling so good. Here’s hoping that you will be training with Jack this time next year. Take care of yourselves and each other.

    Hi Jodi, Jack and family,
I have been following your blog and couldn’t be happier of Jack’s progress. I live in the neighborhood and have been to Jack’s Lemonade the last 2 years with my kids. I was always so impressed by Jack. Now he is my inspiration too. I was just diagnosed with epilepsy in January and going through drug trials right now to hopefully find one that will work for me. Every time I get down and think it is too much to handle, I think of your family and Jack and know that I can get through this. Someday soon I’ll be up and running too! Thank you Jack!

    Hi Jodi, Jack and family,
I live in the neighborhood and have attended Jack’s Lemonade the last 2 years with my kids. I am always amazed at what your family and Jack have accomplished. I have been following Jack’s blog and I too am inspired by Jack and his recovery. He is truly an amazing kid. I was diagnosed this January with Epilepsy and have been having a very hard time dealing with the diagnosis and the trials of medications. I just want to say that Jack is my inspiration as well. Seeing him in the videos and seeing him triumph after everything he has been through is his young live is inspirational. Now, when I’m having a bad day, I stop and think of Jack’s smiling face and realize that I can do this too. Someday soon, I’ll be up and running too.
    Thanks Jack!
    Gail
